The first picture I took in the Banting House, the second is of an anatomy book my parents used in school during the 50's and the last, well that's mine. I just thought it was a good visual timeline...
It's been great seeing everyone's work. Every one has been awesome :)
Those are gorgeous photos, Virtue... just stunning. I actually find old glass bottles and jars really appealing, maybe because they remind me of my great grandmother's medicine cabinet. Even before I saw your comment about where you took that photo, I suspected that might be the source. I hope I can get there someday.
The diabetes book with the syringe is very poignant, and I think that's the one that resonates with me most. Maybe because I've had it for so long, and I think it says something about how there's been progress, but here we are, still requiring insulin, and having to balance food, insulin and activity to stay alive.
Of course, I identify most with the "not a cure" photo, having had my fair share of gushers, and that photo is very striking.
Thank you so much for posting them for Diabetes Art Day. It's an interesting selection, all conveying different ideas and feelings about diabetes - and just lovely photos.
